Avoiding 'flat head'
The first recommendation
for putting baby to bed to avoid Sudden
Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is to lay baby
on their back to sleep.
Many parents worry about
baby getting a flat area on the back of
their head, otherwise known as
'plagiocephaly'.
Liz discusses some simple
techniques to reduce baby's risk of 'flat
head' in this short 2.5 minute video such as
- distractions to turn baby's head
- tummy time
- different ways to carry baby
The SIDS campaign has
reduced the rate of SIDS by 85% since the
early 1990's. For more information
about safe sleeping, visit the
Sids&kids website.
