Carolyn is the Nurse Unit

expect from your newborn baby at birth.

In DVD 1, Dr Greening

insights into the importance of 'focus' and
relaxation during the birth process.
Judy introduces us to our
new baby in DVD 3. She talks about sleep,
tired signs, feeding babies, and relates her
discussion to
new parents, involving them in discussion (Dads in particular), to see how
they are coping with their new babies.
Kara discusses how the
use of herbs in
pregnancy and after your birth can assist
you with healing and general well-being in DVD 1.
Kate gives us some ideas
about the different slings that are
available, and why we might use them in DVD
3.
In DVD 1, Kay discusses
the tests that are available to you during pregnancy, such
as a CVS and amniocentesis (amnio).
She talks about the implications of having the
tests, what is involved in having them
done, and their reliability.
In DVD 3, Kay discusses
important strategies to implement at home
with your pets before baby arrives for a
smooth transition, and how to introduce your
new baby to your pet to minimise jealousy.
Kylie specialises in
Pregnancy massage, and gives your support
people some tips on how to massage during
labour in DVD 2.
Baby massage techniques
are shown in the making sense of your baby DVD
(DVD 3).
Leanne is the Producer of
the Birthing Sense Series, bringing together
the team from around Australia to give you a
birth education class on DVD to watch in
your own home, at a time that is convenient
ti you and your support people.
Leanne introduces each
DVD, discusses birth and pain management
strategies for natural birth on DVD 2, andthroughout the
series, discusses breastfeeding- how to
breastfeed and avoiding (or dealing with)
soreness.
Lindsey discusses hypnobirthing (confident birthing), and
the importance of relaxation in the birth
process during DVD 1- making sense of pregnancy.
She also wrote a
relaxation practice for you at the end of DVD1
as a strategy to practise, to
improve your birthing experience.
Liz specialises in
women's health, and gives some great advice
about your pelvic floor during pregnancy,
and after birth (both vaginal and
caesarian). She also discusses
exercise in general,during pregnancy. Liz
features in DVD 1- making sense of pregnancy,
and DVD 2-birth.

Child passenger safety
(car seat safety) is SO important. We
are often in a hurry to turn babies around
or move them into a bigger car seat quickly.
In DVD 3 (making sense of baby), Noel tells
us when it is safe to move baby, and the
implications of doing it too soon.
The Birthing Sense series
brings you real people and real stories for
you to learn from, and to choose the experience that
will suit you and your baby the most.
Many people have contributed
to the variety of photos seen throughout the
Birthing Sense prenatal class at home. There have been
many comments relating to how great it is to see
'real' people through their pregnancy,
labour, birth
and early parenting experiences.
Our General Practitioner,
Saroja discusses the prenatal check-up in
DVD 1 (pregnancy), as well as various options available
for your care when you are pregnant.
In DVD 2 (birth) she talks about the 6 week
post-natal check.
